Sedation Dentistry

At Perry Dental, we focus on compassionate and comprehensive dentistry—so we understand that for many, simply the thought of visiting a dental office can be intimidating or even overwhelming. That is why we provide sedation dentistry options so you can get the dental care you need as comfortably as possible.

Dealing with Dental Anxiety

What Is Sedation Dentistry?

Dr. Evan L. Perry and his team are dedicated to meeting your dental care needs—that includes ensuring your comfort before, during, and after treatment. Sedation dentistry is just one of the many steps to achieve this goal.

Rather than a treatment in itself, sedation dentistry involves using medication to help patients relax during dental procedures. The type and level of sedation depend on the procedure being performed as well as your own preferences.

Our talented team of dental professionals is not only licensed to provide this fantastic service, but works with you to ensure that your treatment plan is truly personalized. This includes addressing any dental anxiety you may have and how to make your experience at our office as pleasant as possible.

Types of Sedation Dentistry at Perry Dental

At our office, we never take the “one size fits all” approach when it comes to your dental treatment. We take a great amount of pride in making your personal treatment plan just that: personalized to meet your needs.

That is why we offer such a wide variety of services, including different sedation dentistry options. This is the most successful method of making sure you get the smile you’ve always wanted, the way that you want it.

Oral Sedation

This is a straightforward method of sedation, simply requiring a pill to be taken before your dental appointment (also the reason it is often called “pill sedation”). This makes it a fantastic option for anyone suffering from moderate dental anxiety, allowing you to become relaxed before arriving at the office.

Another benefit of oral sedation is how it allows for a deeper level of relaxation, both physically and mentally. While you’ll remain conscious, you may feel drowsy or lightly asleep, though you’ll still be able to respond to our team. This way we can still get your input, concerning both your comfort and the progress of the procedure.

Because this technique is meant to be taken before arriving at our office, you will need to arrange transportation both to and from your appointment.

IV Sedation

One of the most advanced methods of sedation dentistry, IV sedation is often considered one step above general anesthesia. While you will remain conscious, many patients become so relaxed they can easily fall asleep, or simply experience a dreamlike trance.

Administered intravenously, our team can carefully control the level of sedation and make adjustments as needed. This makes it the perfect choice for anyone who is suffering from high levels of dental anxiety or expected to undergo a longer procedure.

Like oral sedation, you need to arrange for transportation for your appointment.
